Zane Grey Highline Trail 50 Mile Endurance Run. Epic.

Place this one in the “Woa, why didn’t I think of that?” category.

Zombies, Run! is an app for your phone that you play while you’re running. As you run, you rack up resources (stuff like ammo & medicine), listen to the story unfold, and do your best to stay ahead of the zombie horde. When you get back from your run, you use the resources you collected to plan a strategy and figure out what the hell happened to the planet.

This is sure to spawn similar games and themed relay teams all over the country. Can’t wait to try it out.

Looks like it will be available in early 2012, but you can pre-order in their online store.

Thanks to the folks over at You Bar you can easily make your own energy bar. It’s like Subway for power food. You pick what works for you. Here’s the run down:

  1. Pick your base: almond/cashew/peanut butter, dates.
  2. Pick some protein, if you want it.
  3. Add nuts and seeds.
  4. Add fruits and berries (they have cherries—yum).
  5. Pick a sweetener: honey, brown rice syrup.
  6. Choose from some other cool additives like sea salt, chocolate, ginger.
  7. Name your bar something witty (like ubercoolcherrydelight).
  8. Order a box or two.

They’ll send them to you all wrapped up and ready to show off at your next 50K.

And heck, they come recommended by Neil Patrick Harris. Instant cool-factor, right?

We get requests for training plans with continual follow-up. Let’s face it, a lot of people like having a coach. Coachya looks like a pretty easy and slick way to help them out.

You can create training plans for individuals and teams and they report back on how the workouts went. Check it out.
